Flatworms have flattened bodies and exhibit bilateral symmetry. They are present in all environments of water. They have a definite head and posterior end. Some flatworms are free living organisms (such as Turbellarian flatworms), while others such as flukes and tapeworms are parasites. Flatworms maintain healthy algae, as well as protozoan and zooplankton levels in ponds by eating these organisms and keeping their populations balanced.
