Sea Stars are composed of a central disc and five arms/rays. It's mouth is on it's underside and along each arm/ray is an ambulacral groove with tiny tube feet. Sea stars move by pumping water into their tube feet from the ampullae, which will cause them to project rom the ambulacral groove. There are suckers at the ends that allow them to cling onto solid surfaces; they will contract muscles to push water back and shorten the tube feet. As a result, the animal is pulled onto the solid surface in their desired direction. Sea stars usually feed on any type of invertebrate or even some fish. Sea stars also have the ability to regenerate lost body parts.
